adding waveforms to create a more complex one. the additive result has periodicity too large for gif animation - hence a still frame. october 2011.

A still frame from combining waveforms in puredata. The resulting animation is periodic though takes quite a while to complete - too long to make a nice gif animation. Hence the still frame. October 2011

A still from a long animation of additive audio waveforms. Black & white as it is most flexible. Can recolor if needed. Made with puredata. October 2011.

a still frame because full rotation takes too many frames for animated gif.
the animated version will probably be one of several elements making its way into a visual set. made with puredata, audio reactive, oct 2011
Just thinking about the stuff I post on Tumblr….
The graphics and animations that I post are experiments and often used in some other form as part of an entire visual composition - generally in live performance. They aren’t complete finished works like a demo reel.
It’s something like an electronic musician who would post a single bass drum sound that he/she created. It probably won’t be used alone but as one element in a piece of music. Still.. if this bass drum sound is something that the musician created - e.g. using a resonating filter through a VCA with an appropriate envelope - I would be inclined to find it worth clicking on and hearing. But that’s me. Some people might prefer to wait and hear an entire composition.
oooooh YAY!
